The Olsens Are "Teetering" On Doing 'Fuller House'

by Orli Matlow

Production on Netflix's Full House reboot is underway, and the cast from John Stamos to Andrea Barber have the Instagrams to prove it. The people behind Uncle Jesse, Uncle Joey, Danny, DJ, Stephanie, Kimmy, and even Steve have been Instagramming from the Fuller House set. The show promises to deliver the Tanner family we know and love, with the exception of one big essential piece: Michelle Tanner. However, during a TCA 2015 panel, Netflix Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos said that Mary Kate & Ashley are "teetering" on joining Fuller House.

This of course comes after the Olsens said that they wouldn't appear in the reboot, either in a regular or even cameo capacity. When that news came out last May, John Stamos echoed Full House fans everywhere when he tweeted to confirm the sad news, saying, "I understand they're in a different place and I wish them the best. I promise you will not be disssapointed [sic] with our reunion and spin off!!" (I forgive you for the extra S in "disappointed," Stamos. We'll call it an emotionally charged typo).

But now, all hope is not lost and that's a magical thing. The fact that they're considering an appearance is progress, people. What could be motivating this change of heart, and what could "teeter" them to officially joining the show? I may have an idea or seven...

They Could Get FOMO From Stamos' Instagrams

Stamos and Steve have been Instagramming and tweeting pictures from the read-throughs. Mary Kate and Ashley must be experiencing at least SOME amount of Fear of Missing Out.

They Could Be Made to Feel Super Nostalgic

Come on, guys! Fuller House is being rebooted to cash on how much we fans miss it. It meant so much to me in my childhood — reruns were on every day after school on channel 9. I can only imagine the Olsens have at least some fond memories of the set and that could convince them to revisit their character.

They Could Be Offered a Juicy Plotline That Could Resurrect Their Acting Careers

Neither Olsen has acted since 2011, when Mary Kate appeared in the Vanessa Hudgens movie, Beastly. Fuller House could be an opportunity for one or both of them to show off their acting chops once again. They could ask the writers to give them a good plot line that's either comedic or dramatic and reflects what they want to do in future roles.

The Costumes Could Be Entirely From Their Fashion Line

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have been fashion icons for years, and are very successful designers. They won a CFDA Fashion Award for Womenswear Designer of the Year, and their line Elizabeth & James is sold at Bloomingdales. Maybe they can cut a deal that Fuller House could be a vehicle to promote their fashion lines so MK & A could be motivated to appear.

They Could Be Offered More Money

They probably don't need the money, but a nice offer couldn't hurt. Pay up, Netflix! It's worth it, I promise.
