Kanye May Have Launched A Halloween Trend

by Rachel Semigran

When MTV signed on Miley Cyrus to host the 2015 VMAs, it was clear from the start that the network wanted this year to be the television event that everyone would talk about. And boy oh boy, did the ceremony serve up the drama this year. Fans were treated to a kaleidoscope of costumes from the master of ceremonies, a performance fit for queens by Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift, a crying Justin Bieber, and the "What's good Miley?" heard 'round the world. One of the buzziest moments of the night goes to none other than Video Vanguard recipient Kanye West. He set the Internet ablaze when Kanye announced he's running for President in 2020. With that, 2015's most popular Halloween costume was born, because who doesn't want to be President Kanye for Halloween?

I was actually surprised it took Kanye this long to claim he's the man fit to run this country. According to Kanye he is rap music and he is fashion, so why not take it a step further and say he is America? Granted, Kanye's proclamation was likely just another peacock feather in his tail, but it's also not the first time Kanye has used the spotlight to get political. It's impossible to forget his post-Katrina, "George Bush doesn't care about black people" moment. It'll be fascinating to see where the media mogul stands come actual election season.

With a presidential election on the way, Kanye 4 Prez is already a top ringer for 2015's most topical Halloween costume.

You'll find plenty of supporters at the party.

And, luckily, it'll also be the easiest costume to pull off.
