6 New Year's Hangover Remedies and Recipes to Get You Functional Again

Happy New Hangover! If you were up taking 2014 shots of alcohol last night, you're likely feeling it at this point. I bet you didn't drink a glass of water for each drink! But no matter; this is no time to chastise you. Instead, let's just jump in to ways you can feel better fast and jump into the new year as if you've never been dehydrated in your life.

Nutella Banana Milkshake

Get that much-needed potassium back in your body on the double. Blend bananas with vanilla ice cream and a dollop of Nutella. Or if you’re unmotivated, just eat all parts separately. The fruit will give you electrolytes and carbs, the ice cream some protein and soul-soothing, and the Nutella is good even if you’re not hungover.

Ginger Tea

Ginger’s great for a nauseous stomach. To make ginger tea, cut 10 slices of raw ginger root and boil for 10 minutes. Add a squeeze of lemon or orange and a heap of honey to replenish carbs. Easier route: ginger ale.

Cinnamon Toast

You know what to do. Toast, butter, cinnamon. Pair this with a banana if you can. Easier route: Cinnamon Toast Crunch.

Gatorade

Electrolytes, carbs, and water: all you need in one swift delivery system. You cannot get enough Gatorade this morning.

Oatmeal with Blueberries

Get your carbs, proteins, and antioxidants in one fell swoop. Prepare the oats in the microwave, dump in frozen (or fresh if you can find ‘em) blueberries, and then eat in a reclining position.

Sleep.

After you hydrate and have some carbs, just sleeeeeeep. Your body will do a lot of the fixing on its own if you let it. You probably didn’t sleep very well after all those Tequila Sunrises, so now sleep until sunset. There’s 364 more days of the year.
