Charlotte Olympia x MAC Will Channel "Retro-Glam"

by Alexa Tucker

I never met a designer makeup collaboration I didn't like, but this one is sure to be special — Charlotte Olympia and MAC Cosmetics are collaborating on a color collection to be released next March, according to Women's Wear Daily. Time to dust off your hot curlers, because from the sounds of it, it'll inspire you to get all dolled up.

According to WWD, the collection will be a "retro-glam" throwback — kind of like designer Charlotte Olympia Dellal herself. “The inspiration for the collection comes from my love of a bygone era that manifests itself in my day-to-day beauty look as well as featuring my design aesthetic,” Dellal told WWD.

The designer adds, “I have always enjoyed the ritual of dressing up and wanted to unleash my inner movie star.” So much so that it's almost her signature — at a large majority of her public appearances, Dellal sports a near-trademark red lip and voluminous retro curls.

The Charlotte Olympia x MAC collection promises to be "whimsy, color[ful] and fun," just like the designer's own lines, according to James Gager, senior vice president and group creative director of MAC Cosmetics. “Her playful and stylish accessories are the ultimate inspiration for makeup," he says.

It's not wrong to have high hopes — Dellal is a queen at releasing creative, unique collaborations with different brands across fashion and beauty. Her collab with jewelry designer Tom Binns was the perfect blend of edgy and fun, and her high heel collection with Agent Provocateur made everyone feel sexy and confident without even trying on a pair.

Of course, her Kitty flats are still at the very top of my Charlotte Olympia wishlist (ugh, want so bad), but this color collection just might take a close second. (That is, if Charlotte Olympia x Havaianas doesn't take its spot.)
