You Need This Clever Apple Watch Halloween Costume

by Tiffany Thomas

It's nearly Halloween, and if you haven't yet decided on a costume, now is the time! It can be tricky to find an outfit that's original, funny, and inexpensive. And, if you're a little DIY-impaired (like me!), the idea of literally putting together an outfit that will blow your friends' minds might seem daunting. But luckily, this year in news has got you covered. This spring saw the first shipment of Apple's new smartwatches, and they quickly became one of the biggest must-have tech products of the year. So, if you really want to make your friends jealous this Halloween, you should make this super-easy and clever Apple Watch Halloween costume!

Back in 2014, Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook first unveiled plans for the Apple Watch, the company's first new major product line since the launch of the iPad. The long-awaited wearables hit store shelves in April, and Apple reported 3.6 million watches sold in the second quarter, placing them in second place to the FitBit which sold 4.4 million units, according to The Wall Street Journal. With prices ranging from the affordable to the astronomical, the Watches created a stir among tech consumers and will be updated in time for the holiday season.

Think making an Apple Watch costume is too difficult? Here's how, with just a few supplies and a little help from the Internet, you can turn yourself into the Apple Watch of your dreams.

Step One: Decide Which Model You'll Be

You can go with the basic Watch Sport model.

Or you can go for a more high-end look with the Watch Editions. Apple offers eight luxury models, with prices ranging from $10,000 to $17,000. This one has a sportier band:

Step Two: Find Your Base Outfit

What's great about this costume is that you really don't need much to pull it off. Apple Watches are all about simplicity and sleek design, so you can go with just a few materials. To start, you'll need a matching T-shirt and pants to match the band of your choosing.

You really can't beat these fleece sweatpants from Walmart at less than $6.

And this matching top is perfect! It's also from Walmart.

Step Three: Make Your Watch Face

As for the watch face, the key is simplicity. You'll need a square box just large enough to fit in front of your torso. Have you ordered any pizza recently? Don't throw that box away just yet!

You'll need a can of black spray paint for the watch face and duct tape to match the edging of the look you're going for.

And finally, you'll need this set of chisel-tip Sharpie markers from Office Depot.

Since there are eight colors, you can easily draw on your cool built-in workout apps, activity apps, or just display one of the many funny questions people ask Siri.

Tape the box to your front, and you're done! Your Apple Watch costume is completely outfitted with minimal headache — and on a next-to-nothing budget.

Or, You Can Go Another Way Entirely

It really doesn't get any easier than that. Plus, your costume doubles as a healthy snack at the end of the evening. So, that's kind of a double win!
