These Shows Are Perfect For Netflix & Chill

I hear kids these days have invented a new turn of phrase for hooking up: Netflix & Chill. Now, in my world Netflix and chill means I am going to watch Netflix alone until I fall blissfully asleep to the dulcet voices of the Property Brothers, but you do you, guys. Whether you plan on using a Netflix invite as code for sexy times or you actually want to relax and watch a little Netflix on your own, you need an appropriate show to chill with. Chill-worthy shows should be non-taxing on your brain, easy to follow, and relaxing to watch. I'm sorry, but I am never going to Netflix and chill with House of Cards, no matter what connotation of the phrase you want to go with.

The list below is full of shows perfect for any kind of Netflix and chill session. Whether you plan on watching one episode before moving the party to the bedroom or you are wearing your footie pajamas and drinking wine solo, these shows will put the chill into your Netflix and chill session. Each show is entertaining in its own right, and they will all put you in a relaxed state of mind.

Next time you decide to Netflix and chill, do it with one of these 11 shows.

1. Friends

You know all of the episodes by heart which means you aren't going to be overly concerned about missing anything. If you are Netflix and chilling with benefits, watch "The One With Phoebe's Uterus" and set the mood with Monica's lesson on erogenous zones.

2. Psych

The mysteries are just an excuse for leads Gus and Shawn to be adorable and drop 10,000 pop culture references per episode. This is the most zen show on Earth. As an added

, Gus and Shawn provide excellent inspiration for a *ahem* chill session.

3. The Great British Baking Show

This show is pure, unadulterated food porn. Watch as the contestants make the most mouth-watering baked goods you have ever seen, and don't be surprised if you end up opting for cake over sex.

4. The Vampire Diaries

Plot, what plot? I love The Vampire Diaries for a lot of reasons, but mostly I enjoy watching all the pretty people eventually smush their faces together. It is delicious, soap opera sexiness that requires only as much attention as you are willing to give.

5. House Hunters International

OK, so House Hunters isn't completely relaxing because like Liz Lemon you are sure to have plenty of opinions on the participants outrageous home demands. That's where the international version comes in: the houses are gorgeous and the vistas are stunning. Just cut the sound and bask in the scenery.

6. The Tudors

Sure, there's political intrigue and war in The Tudors, but you know it is all about the romance and pretty clothes deep down. Bask in the beauty of the show, and let the rest of the world fade away as Natalie Dormer and Jonathan Rhys Meyers are flawless on your screen.

7. How I Met Your Mother

Like Friends, you know it all by heart, and Barney is basically the innuendo king. You do the math.

8. Royal Pains

There's nothing but blue skies, low stakes, and the Hamptons in Royal Pains. It is the TV equivalent of a vacation. Turn on any episode and prepare to indulge in all your beach-related fantasies.

9. Political Animals

Political Animals is not a great show, but Sebastian Stan is great in it, and Stan trumps overall show quality any day of the week. Tune in whenever he appears onscreen and take snack breaks throughout the rest of the show.

10. Barefoot Contessa: Back To Basics

Ina Garten's voice is the most soothing sound in the world. She is a natural de-stressor, who also makes food that looks so delectable it will make you weep over your takeout.

11. Haven

Syfy's monster of the week show is catnip for supernatural fans. The locale is eye candy, there is a never-ending love triangle guaranteed to give you the feels, and it is occasionally scary enough for you to initiate a cuddle during your chill session and blame it on the show.

May these shows bring your next Netflix and chill session just the right Netflix to chilling ratio. Godspeed, Netflixers!
