Fashion Designers Are #PrayingForParis

by Augusta Statz

A peace sign and the Eiffel Tower merging into one symbol couldn’t be a more emblematic design for what much of the world has been feeling in the aftermath of Friday night's Paris terrorist attacks, which have reportedly caused as many as 120 fatalities. Amongst the many using the trending #PrayForParis hashtag, fashion designers are showing their support for Paris via social media. Given that the city is such a major sartorial hub, it’s touching that the community of designers is sending its love, support, and well wishes to Parisians during this tragic time.

Some of the design houses that are reacting over social media are based in Paris, while others are not. Yet all of them seem to feel a deep connection to the devastation the city is currently experiencing. American designers have shown their support as well, and all of these individuals are reminding us of the importance of solidarity in trying times.

Here are seven brands that have rallied for the #PrayForParis cause on Instagram. This is only a small sampling of the way the attacks have impacted the fashion community and social media as a whole. While tweeting or Instagraming a message of togetherness or purchasing merchandise to support Paris may seem like small acts, the reminder that people across the world are thinking of the victims and those affected by the tragedy is nothing short of powerful.
