These Adele Lyrics Will Save Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving be thankful that Adele released her new album, 25. After selling over 2.4 million copies in its first three days — breaking a first-week record that *NSYNC has held since 2000 — this probably means someone in your family bought it, giving you something to talk about over dinner. As Saturday Night Live proved recently, Adele has the power to bring families together. Even the most fractured clan can find some understanding with a little help from the world's favorite singer. Adele's basically the best mediator money can buy.

We all know you love your family with all your heart, but sometimes you have trouble tolerating them for long periods at a time. Knowing this, we've come up with a list of the 8 most dramatic Adele lyrics that will perfectly convey whatever you're really feeling this Turkey Day. Someone made some rather prejudice comments? Adele's there for you. Someone else insulted your life choices? Oh, there's an Adele lyric that's perfect to help you swallow your pride and make some room for more stuffing.

So take a deep breath and just channel these Adele lyrics to help you get through. Acting out any of Adele's videos — real or the ones you wish were real — for any of these is definitely recommended. It may end up freaking out your great-aunt, but then again, it may also bring you together. So maybe just lean into it and make sure you have some acrylic press-on nails to make it all a bit more festive.

1. “If I'm wrong, I am right / Don't need to look no further”

On “Chasing Pavements," Adele provides you with the best response to any of your relatives who don’t want to see eye-to-eye with you on any topic, be it politics or Jessica Jones, which we all know is the best Marvel TV show. Don’t even think of fighting me on this one grandma!

2. "Just 'cause I said it, it don't mean that I meant it / People say crazy things"

Rumor has it, you may have thrown back a few too many drinks and said some things you now regret. Summon up the words of Adele on her 21 track "Rumor Has It" to apologize.

3. “They say that time's supposed to heal, yeah / But I ain't done much healing”

Adele was speaking some real truth with this line from "Hello." Time unfortunately does not heal all wounds, but on Thanksgiving, you have to try and get along with everyone at the dinner table. Even if there’s some past beef, this day’s all about turkey.

4. “Please wipe that look out of your eyes, it's bribing me to doubt myself”

So, your cousin just became a doctor and your other cousin is expecting another bundle of joy. And you, well, you're still figuring things out. Nothing wrong with that, but you're not loving the looks you're getting for it. Don't worry, even Adele's been there. On "First Love" she tells off the doubters. And guess what? She's a record-breaking, non-stop award-winning superstar. So bite your tongue and know it's all going to be OK.

5. "When night comes and I'm on my own / You should know I chose to be alone"

For any time a relative asks you when you're going to get married, think of this line from "Right As Rain."

6. "I was running, you were walking / You couldn't keep up, you were falling down (down) / Mmm, there's only one way down"

When you manage to shut a conversation down with one mic-drop worthy retort, quietly congratulate yourself with these lyrics from "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)."

7. "Wake me up, wake me up when all is done / I won't rise until this battle's won / My dignity's become undone"

On "He Won't Go," Adele seems to perfectly describe they way you feel any time someone starts a fight with someone else at the table. For when the battle seems more like a seven-year war though, think about eating more turkey so you can rock yourself into dreamland. Far, far away from all that shouting and yelling.

8. "No worries or cares / Regrets and mistakes / They are memories made / Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?"

These words from "Someone Like You" could be referencing bad blood between the family or just some poorly seasoned side dishes. Either way, this 21 track gets at the frustration you're feeling.

Thanksgiving is just one day a year so try and make the most of it. If all else fails though, press play on one of Adele's albums in hopes of transporting you and your family to a much happier place. Thanks be to Adele.
