No More Segway Rides With Biebz?

by Lia Beck

It sounds like Selena Gomez is done with Justin Bieber for good and that's awesome because somehow through this whole Justin-Bieber-going-crazy thing, I've become a big supporter of Gomez. She just seems so normal and well-adjusted and, granted, it's primarily because she doesn't participate in egg throwing or drink sizzurp, but I just want better for her now. It sounds like she feels the same way. Selena Gomez opens up about her "bad breakup" in the March issue of Seventeen Magazine .

Gomez told the magazine,

"This year is when I really started feeling powerful. I had always been the underdog secretly. I was on Disney when it was Miley, the Jonas Brothers, and Demi. I questioned the way I looked, acted, sang, and wrote. Then I turned 20, went through a really bad breakup, and realized I needed to have "Come & Get It" be amazing. I wanted it all to be me.

Yes! Great! "Come and Get It" is super annoying, but referring to the Bieber breakup as "bad" is fantastic. A couple days ago an alleged text message conversation between Bieber and Gomez was released. While I hoped it was fake because Bieber's grammar was shockingly good and it included dick pics, I hoped it was real because Gomez really stood up for herself and put Bieber in his place. It's nice to hear that she actually does have these thoughts.

Gomez went on to say that she looked to an older pop star for advice,

I actually talked to Katy Perry about guys who are intimidated by strong girls. I haven't found someone yet who could understand my lifestyle, support it, love me through it, and not be threatened by it. It's hard. I do think I might scare some guys, because I'm like, 'I want to change the world! I have dreams! What do you want to do?' But I only know how to be me.

That does sound pretty similar to Gomez, supposedly, telling Bieber that she doesn't "buy that bullshit" anymore and Bieber, supposedly, insulting her by saying she was only famous because of him.

Okay, okay, the text messages are still very likely fake, but Selena Gomez definitely has her head on straight. Don't expect to catch her riding segways with the Biebz again.
