7 Shows 'AHS: Hotel' Fans Will Love

Well, folks, it's been a twisted and crazy journey as per usual in the Ryan Murphy universe, but now we're just hours away from seeing the American Horror Story: Hotel finale reach its bittersweet end. It feels like just yesterday we were checking into the Cortez, contemplating the horrors this haunted hotel would have to offer. (If only we'd known!) So now that Season 5 is about to come to a close, it's only natural that diehard horror enthusiasts such as myself, look to future and contemplate when American Horror Story Season 6 will premiere. Thankfully, the anthology series has already officially been renewed for another season, which means we know for a fact that it will return. However, in regards to when, right now we can only speculate. Update: In a press release, FX announced that American Horror Story will return for Season 6 on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 10 p.m.

Earlier: FX has yet to announce an official premiere date for Season 6, but if we were to look back on prior season debuts for clues (all of which take place in early October), I think it's safe to assume Murphy's next installment will follow along the same path. Unfortunately, that still leaves us with many, many, many months of living in an AHS-less world. So as a way to help ease the transition, I've provided a few other possible TV shows that can help to fill the void until this killer series returns. If you love AHS, then you definitely need to check these shows out.

Penny Dreadful

Lovers of gore and darkness will undoubtedly enjoy everything this show brings to the table. From werewolves to vampires to Frankenstein's monster, Penny Dreadful is a beautifully crafted and executed series about what nightmares are made of. If you aren't already watching it, you're seriously missing out.

It may not be the Cortez, but really it's the next best thing. It's mother approved and I'm sure it has killer ratings on Yelp that are to die for. (OK, I'll stop.) Seriously, though, you'd be crazy not to want to watch this show. But then again, we all go a little mad sometimes...

It may not share its predecessor's gore factor, but you'll definitely recognize a few familiar faces from the AHS vault.
