Bella & Gigi Hadid Bring Back '90s Grunge For Puma

by Kali Borovic

What do you get when you mix the Hadid sisters with Rihanna's streetwear? Apparently, '90s grunge witches. Bella and Gigi Hadid walked in Rihanna's Puma Fashion Show, and they looked absolutely fabulous in head-to-toe goth-y streetwear. I'm now convinced that there's nothing the Hadids can't wear and look great in, but there are a few beauty tips you should know if you're thinking about trying the black-lipped trend.

When Rihanna's debut collection for Puma was announced, there was tons of excitement, and her Puma show definitely lived up to the hype. She based her looks around street-style, which mixed perfectly with '90s-sequel accessories. Besides her fabulous streetwear meets grunge aesthetic, it helped that she also had gorgeous models to pull off the looks. Now, I have never seen the Hadid sisters wear black lipstick in their everyday lives, but after seeing how badass they look with it on, I hope they start. Their spiderweb-y slicked back hair also paired well with the streetwear vibe.

Bella looked fabulous in a long, black, head-to-toe lace-up jumpsuit, witchy ombre nails, and a thick cross choker. She's always had that '90s vibe to her personal style, so it was neat to see her all decked out in goth. Her big sis' Gigi looked equally as awesome as she closed the show in an oversized jacket and not much else. Her sparkly garter and fishnet socks made the look complete.

Gigi normally sticks with bright colors and fluffy sweaters, but she killed it in the Riri-approved streetwear. Who knew she would look so great in black lipstick?

Tell me that she doesn't look completely in her element and you would be lying. Bella can pull any look off perfectly.

If you're thinking about trying out the black-lip trend, there are a few things you should know. It might look fun to swipe on a grunge-y hue, but there's actually a lot of work that goes into looking this fierce. Here's a few tips to help get on the Hadid sisters' black-lip level.

1. Grab Some Clear Lip Liner

Instead of lining with a color, like you normally would, choose something white. This was made for a cleaner, sharper look, so you won't have black running off your lips.

2. Keep The Rest Of Your Face Clean

The black lips are enough to make a statement, so opt for a fresh look with the rest of the makeup. It's all about balance!

3. Prep Your Lips

Black is a fairly pigmented color, so make sure your lips are prepped with a mask or an exfoliant before you add the color. This will help with the application as well as taking it off at night.

4. Find The Right Black

Don't just opt for any old black — you'll want to find a formula and hue that works for you. Black lipstick has a tendency to look blue-ish if it isn't thick enough, so you'll want to shop around until you find the perfect one.

5. Add A Gloss

Adding a gloss overtop a flat black is the perfect way to make it more wearable. If you're looking for just a little bit of plumpness, add the gloss to only the inner parts of your lips.

You'll lips will be looking like a Hadid in no time!
