Why Ashley Benson Loves Hanna's New 'PLL' Style

When the Pretty Little Liars took a five year time hop, so did their closets. Suddenly their quirky outfits got a chic update, going from high school to high fashion almost overnight. According to Marie Claire, Ashley Benson loves her new Pretty Little Liars wardrobe, and even plans to ask for some clothes from her character's closet after the season ends. With all the fabulous looks that she has been wearing this season, it doesn't surprise me one bit.

Hanna Marin, the character Benson portrays on the show, has always had personal style that's very different from the rest of the cast. She's wears clothes that are girly with an edgy twist, but season six is giving her a chance to wear high-end designers for the first time. According to her interview with Marie Claire, Benson loves getting to wear fancier clothing, and even gets to wear some of her own jewelry — a Cartier Love ring that she got from one of her ex-boyfriends, for example.

"My character [on Pretty Little Liars], Hanna, has always dressed super, super girly. But recently, they've been putting me in designers like Chanel and Givenchy. It's opened me up to wearing fancier things during the day. I'm going to ask for everything when the show ends!"

Considering how fierce Benson looks in her off-set outfits, it only makes sense that she would love her newly grown-up character's wardrobe. If Benson's plan goes through, we could see her rocking some Marin-inspired looks in no time. Just look at the before and after of her character's ensembles to see just how much she's grown.

1. Chunky Jewelry

Before:

Her character always added chunky, stand-out jewelry to every look.

After:

She now sticks to the classics, like this dainty pearl necklace or some simple bracelets.

2. Mini Dresses

Before:

Marin wasn't afraid to show some skin in the name of fashion.

After:

She still likes flirty dresses, but this time she's rocking a more sophisticated silhouette and print.

3. Bold Jackets

Before:

This blazer is perfect for Benson's high school character, but I can't imagine the actor wearing it in real life.

After:

With the detailing, this jacket is still just as bold but much more grown-up.

4. Printed Dresses

Before:

The character loved her bright, floral prints and wore them in just about every single color.

After:

Printed dresses weren't taken out of her wardrobe entirely, but her they are slightly paired down and worn with more expensive-looking pieces.

5. Stand-Out Blazers

Before:

It doesn't get bolder than an all-over glitter blazer!

After:

Benson's character now dresses in crisp, tailored blazers instead.

6. Pastel Colors

Before:

Pastel on pastel on pastel — that was Hanna Marin's motto.

After:

She now keeps the pastel to a minimum, like with this gorgeous pale pink vest.

7. Elaborate

Before:

When the character was in high school, this look was completely on trend.

After:

She's still rocking bold tops but now they are more streamlined.

8. Comfy Cardigans

Before:

The studs on top of the cardigan gave the look a young and fresh feel.

After:

Now even her comfiest looks are kept on the structured side.

9. Leather Jackets

Before:

Leather jackets were a go-to for the character throughout all the seasons.

After:

Now her jackets look even more expensive and sleek.

I'd want to steal all the clothes from Marin's closet too!
