The Stuff Caramelized Honey Lattes Are Made Of

Spring has officially arrived, and soon the air will be heady with the fragrance of fresh flower blossoms and echoing with the buzzing of honeybees. And, happily, Starbucks just announced a brand-new drink to help bridge the gap between the remnants of winter weather and the peak of springtime: the Caramelized Honey Latte. So what's in a Starbucks Caramelized Honey Latte, you ask? Let's take a few minutes to bring ourselves up to speed before this seasonal concoction arrives in 'Bux locations nationwide on March 22, 2016.

Personally, I'm dying to try the drink, since I'm hooked on anything laced with honey. Like, get in my belly. Plus, the healing powers of honey have long been documented, and include it acting as a natural cough suppressant, aiding in sleep, and boosting immunity. Granted, some of the golden liquid's magical powers may be lost in translation when it's slow-cooked and poured into piping hot espresso ... but still. The bottom line is that honey is good stuff, so how could you go wrong creating an entire drink around it?

But before we go any further, you should know that the Caramelized Honey Latte is only available for a limited time. Like the Cherry Blossom Frappucino, released on March 15 to celebrate the arrival of spring, this treat will be short-lived. Translation: Don't dilly-dally around and miss your chance to score one. Since the beverage will be available hot, iced, or as a frappuccino in most markets, it caters to just about every kind of coffee drinker.

"One of the things we're most excited about with the Caramelized Honey Latte is how well it works both hot and iced, said Christal Canzler, a member of Starbucks' beverage development team in a press release. "It's perfect for spring weather."

So what's in the ethereal drink that makes it so darn delicious and prime for the springtime? Come, explore with me.

1. Slow-Cooked Caramel Honey Sauce

Mmmm. 'Scuse me while I wipe the drool from my mouth. According to Canzler, "The caramel honey sauce is slowly kettle-cooked to develop a rich, caramelized flavor..." Kettle-cooked, even? This latte is shaping up to be the stuff of dreams.

2. Starbucks Bold Espresso

What more could you possibly ask for than a drink that is dripping with honey and packs a caffeinated punch? How sweet it is, indeed.

3. Steamed Milk

As they say, you guys, it does a body good.
