Von Miller Did His Best MJ On 'DWTS'

2015 Super Bowl MVP Von Miller isn’t exactly seen as a teddy bear on the field — that’s why this outside linebacker helped bring the Denver Broncos to victory in Super Bowl 50. But Dancing With The Stars is showing a whole new side of Von — a softer, more playful side, especially with professional dancer Witney Carson cracking the whip on him. For “Famous Dance” week, Von and Witney got the mother load of awesome dances — Michael Jackson’s “Bad”. Von’s excitement at getting a Michael Jackson song was absolutely adorable — he was jumping up and down like a little kid when they got the news. Von wanted to do the King of Pop justice.

Of course, Witney delivered on the choreography. Her interpretation of Michael Jackson’s classic dance was both modern and true to the original, and both she and Von rocked it. You could tell that Von was really nervous at the outset (he was a little stiff when he and Witney were walking out with the other dancers), but as soon as he loosened up, he was totally comfortable on the floor. The judges loved it — even the notoriously hard-to-please Len Goodman said it was totally “bad,” which meant it was totally great.

I don’t know what it is about football players and other athletes, but they seem to always be good on Dancing With The Stars. It may be because they’re not only in shape, but they’re very in touch with their bodies. Their bodies are their tool, so they know how to move just so. You can’t teach rhythm, of course, but athletes at the top of their games hit that Dancing With The Stars floor and go straight for the Mirrorball trophy. Will Von and Witney be the next to capture it? We’ll have to see, but I think he has a great chance.
