Michelle Dockery's 2016 WHCD Dress Was Lovely

by Augusta Statz

This may be a night to celebrate the White House and the journalists who cover all of the political goings-on, but that surely doesn’t mean that a Brit can’t steal the red carpet. Michelle Dockery’s 2016 White House Correspondents’ Dinner dress was just lovely. This Downton Abbey actress knows a thing or two about American policy — at least as far as the fashion is concerned.

The WHCD has become quite the glamorous affair, and Dockery’s ensemble perfectly fit in with the luxe theme of the evening. She looked like the Belle of the ball in a yellow gown. Part of the reason why Dockery’s got this thing down pat could have to do with the fact that this isn’t her first White House dinner. She attended the event back in 2013, wearing a simple, yet sophisticated deep violet-colored dress. She's clearly not afraid to wear a fun color, and she likes a simple silhouette. Who could blame her? She looks great in a column dress, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

As far as the styling is concerned, she kept her hair down and her makeup minimal, letting her dress steal the show. All in all, Dockery would have done Lady Mary Crawley proud as far as her fashion sense is concerned, and you really couldn’t hope for any more than that.
