Miss USA 2016 Gets More Than Just A Crown

A lot of work, time, and walking in heels goes into preparing for the Miss USA pageant, so winners should be walking away with more than an armful of roses and a tiara. Miss USA 2016 airs on Sunday, June 5 on Fox, live from the spiritual home of sparkly mini-dresses: Las Vegas. Co-Host and "Creative Director" Julianne Hough will co-host the proceedings with Terrence Jenkins and reigning Miss USA Olivia Jordan will be on hand to crown the winner. But what does the 2016 Miss USA winner get besides that crown? Obviously, your next Miss USA will go on to represent these United States of America in the Miss Universe 2016 competition (just once, I want an alien to enter to prove that title right); but that's not the end of her privileges. According to PageantNews.com, the Miss USA 2016 prizes are pretty exciting — and that's in addition to the glory. Bustle's request to the Miss Universe organization to verify PageantNews.com's list of prizes has not been answered.

However, taking those prizes home is no easy feat. In fact, the contest is already underway. Sunday's three-hour telecast is the culmination of the Miss USA season; that's where all the ladies will appear onstage, but only the finalists will compete. Preliminary competitions in Evening Gown and Swimsuit were already held, and you can stream them from the Miss USA site or the official Miss USA app. From those 15 finalists, only one winner will be chosen, and here's what the lucky Miss USA 2016 will take home, according to PageantNews.com.

Room & Board

Miss USA is put up in "luxury accommodations" in New York City, which probably means that she can stand in the middle of her apartment and not be able touch both sides of it at the same time. Related living expenses will be taken care of, and she'll even receive a salary during her reign.

Special Gifts

The pageant's sponsors will gift the winner with packages of their choice. This year's brands include Chinese Laundry, Image Skincare, and CHI. Basically, Miss USA won't have to spend a cent on moisturizer or shoes while she's in the role.

Wardrobe & Personal Stylist

Miss USA won't be resting on her laurels after her victory. She'll be responsible for making tons of personal appearances to represent the organization and to campaign for Miss Universe. Naturally, she needs the Cinna to her Katniss: a personal stylist who will outfit her for all those occasions.

Hair, Nail, & Fitness Services

Cherish your own ability to go to the grocery store in ripped joggers and a messy bun. Miss USA needs to stay looking fresh to death, so hair, nails, and wellness services are always at her manicured fingertips.

Film School Tuition

The champion also wins a one-year scholarship to the New York Film Academy, which trains students in filmmaking, acting, and photography. Whether her aspirations lie in front of the camera, behind it, or both, Miss USA will know her stuff.

A Professional Photo Portfolio

"Leading fashion photographer" and official Miss USA and Miss Universe photographer Fadil Berisha will shoot Miss USA for a special portfolio. That means plenty of high quality Facebook cover photos to choose from.

Representation & Travel

Miss USA is on the payroll as a "Goodwill Ambassador" for the organization, so she can look forward a jet-setting lifestyle. All associated travel is taken care of, and the winner will also receive complimentary talent and public relations representation.

Most of these prizes are associated with Miss USA's duties and upholding the standards of the organization, but I suppose there are worse jobs than traveling the country while looking fabulous.
