It's about time. Fashion "It" girl Alexa Chung is launching her own clothing line, named "Alexachung." Chung's line will include denim, daywear, evening attire, shoes, and jewelry, in addition to special products, according to The Business of Fashion. OMG, this is the kind of news that makes my life complete. Chung's effortless "cool girl" style is one that it took me a minute to fully "get" but once I did, I was hooked. Her look is enviable and easy to copy, from her signature winged liner to her bedhead to her unique and boho takes on trends. While Chung has collaborated with AG Jeans in the past, Alexachung is all her and she will serve as the creative director, overseeing a team of six designers. When is Alexa Chung's clothing line coming out and where can you get it?
Those are all viable and valid questions, fashionistas! Alexachung will be available to shop in May 2017. It's a contemporary-priced, ready to wear brand. It will be sold at Selfridges, Matchesfashion.com, My Theresa, and SSENSE, according to BoF. There will also be an e-commerce platform, so don't worry! Alexachung will be an accessible line.
Chung told BoF that her goal is to merge street and chic, saying, "I'm not making something that has got a crazy high price point. I want to make sure it's something that is speaking to just everyone on the street."
The style icon 32, also told The Business of Fashion that she enjoyed her prior collabs with other brands and that experience gave her the know-how to really do her own thing.
"I just wanted the freedom to sort of make my own world, without someone else's brand's brief to stick to," she said. "That was so fun, but there are certain boundaries that come with doing something on behalf of someone else, [you] kind of have to keep within their design remit."
Translation? She wants to do it her way and to execute a vision that is entirely her own.
Chung furthered, "I see this being the culmination of a lot of hard work for a decade and this being the resting place for all of those ideas and to continue kind of developing and growing that, just in this one home base space."
Translation? She is so ready to have a line that is truly Alexa Chung in every way.
