An Inspiring Message for Future Moms

by Allie Healy

A worried pregnant woman reached out to CoorDown, an Italian Down syndrome organization, with an email that read "I'm expecting a baby. I've discovered he has Down syndrome. I'm scared: what kind of life will my child have?"

Italian advertisers Saatchi & Saatchi Italy took this email and responded to it in a wonderfully inspiring video advertisement for World Down Syndrome Day, which takes place on March 21. In the video, 15 people with Down syndrome speak about how positive the life of the concerned mother's child is going to be. Some outline the pure happiness the woman's son will experience, while others discuss more difficult times. While the majority of the video is in Italian, the visual display of emotions expressed is enough for the viewer to understand.

According to AdWeek, this is Saatchi & Saatchi's third year working with CoorDown. The advertisers successfully captured this year's theme for World Down Syndrome Day, which is that everyone, including those with Down syndrome, have the right to happiness and well-being.

As the video closes, the screen reads "Everyone has the right to be happy." Look for more information on World Down Syndrome Day on CoorDown's website and by following the hashtag #DearFutureMom.
