What Are MAC's Shadescents?

by Rosie Narasaki

Oh, MAC: Constantly releasing awesome new formulas and products. So, what's their latest hit? Well, MAC is launching Shadescents — new perfumes inspired by six of their most iconic lipsticks. So, if you count yourself as a fan of Lady Danger, Ruby Woo, My Heroine, Candy Yum-Yum, Velvet Teddy, and/or Creme d'Nude, consider yourself in for a treat — because now you can match your signature scent with your signature lipstick.

Now, colors don't have smells, so there was a lot of creativity and thought that went into designing each scent — and each one fits just about perfectly. Poppy red Lady Danger "thrills with notes of wild cherry," which isn't to be confused with classic red Ruby Woo, which "goes bold with whiffs of deep red leather," according to a press release from the brand. Hot pink Candy Yum-Yum is just as sweet as you'd imagine, since it "conjures tropical fruit and cotton candy," while on the other end of the spectrum Créme d'Nude "evokes the vibrant sexiness of naked skin." Rounding out the collection are Velvet Teddy (which "calls forth wild honey and creamy musk"), as well as deep violet favorite My Heroine (which combines "notes of saffron, incense, smoke, and cordovan leather").

Gorgeous, right? In addition to the fun way in which the scents match the shades, these new perfumes from MAC are sure to look absolutely gorgeous on your vanity, side-by-side with the lipstick that inspired it. Plus, buying them two-by-two makes for some very on-point holiday shopping.

Which of the six iconic shades is your must-have? And, following that, which of the new Shadescents will you have your eye on?

MAC Shadescents will be available on MACcosmetics.com and Macys.com starting November 30th, and they'll be available in-store starting on December 8th.
