Grace's Fate Is Revealed On 'Scream Queens'

by Caitlin Flynn

Only a lucky few survived Season 1 of Scream Queens, and Grace Gardner was one of them. The last time we saw her, she had become vice president of Kappa Kappa Tau and was, predictably, being the change she wished to see in the world. (Or, at least on the Wallace University campus.) But, she's been conspicuously absent from Season 2 and in the Dec. 6 episode "Rapunzel, Rapunzel," we finally found out what happened to Grace on Scream Queens.

Her dad, Wes, makes a surprise return and, even more surprisingly, he turns out to be one of the Green Meanies who's roaming the halls of the C.U.R.E Institute. (How many Green Meanies are out there right now? Personally, I've lost count.) As it turns out, Grace has spent the last several years in a mental institution and Wes believes the Chanels are directly responsible for her breakdown. He seethes that they get to be doctors while his daughter suffers in a hospital. This turn of events doesn't make a whole lot of sense because Grace seemed to be happier than ever when Season 1 concluded, but perhaps the Chanels harmed her in some way during the time jump and the details haven't yet been revealed.

If Wes is angry enough to commit murder, I have to think a piece of the puzzle still hasn't been revealed — although, let's be honest, this guy has always been a little unhinged. I mean, last season he casually admitted to burning down the family home so Grace would never learn that her mom was the mean girl Kappa who left a pledge in a bathtub. So, uh, maybe Grace's wildly dysfunctional family played a role in her breakdown and blaming the Chanels isn't the wisest move? Just a friendly suggestion, Wes.

And, of course, my next question is whether or not Grace herself will make an appearance this season. If the Chanels truly did do something to hurt her, maybe she's in #Cahoots with her dad. If Scream Queens has taught me anything, it's that there can never be too many killers casually offing people every week — and murderous instincts may run in the Gardner family.
