Shia LaBeouf Has Been Arrested

by Kadeen Griffiths

If he's trying not to be famous anymore, he's going about it the wrong way. Apparently, Shia LaBeouf was arrested during a Cabaret show Thursday night for trespassing and disorderly conduct. According to the NYPD, LaBeouf was being incredibly disruptive during Act I of the show and was smoking cigarettes inside Studio 54. LaBeouf was escorted out of the theater in handcuffs during intermission and continued to cause a disturbance during his arrest.

Just Jared collected multiple reports that stated that LaBeouf was talking loudly, hitting other members of the audience on the behind, and wouldn't sit down during the show. According to CNN, many theater patrons simply assumed that it was an act or that LaBeouf was doing some kind of research for a role. CBS New York spoke with two witnesses who said that LaBeouf was behaving strangely before the show, chasing after a homeless man and feeding a woman at the bar a strawberry from her own plate.

When he was eventually asked to leave the theater, LaBeouf refused and was handcuffed. One witness took a blurry Instagram photo of LaBeouf being escorted out of Studio 54. Tony nominee Benj Pasek of Pasek and Paul fame, as well as Broadway World, confirmed that LaBeouf was in tears during the incident. However, this emotional display had no positive effect on his behavior, which only worsened when he got to the Midtown North precinct.

LaBeouf is alleged to have told one officer, "F**k you. I'll f**k you up," as they were about to remove his handcuffs. When the officers took this as a sign of aggression and decided to leave the handcuffs on, LaBeouf began spitting at them, earning himself some time in a face mask.

ABC News reports that there is evidence to support the fact that LaBeouf might have been drunk during the entire incident. The police have stated that he "appeared intoxicated", that he was "ranting and rambling incoherently", and that he "exhibited an unpleasant body odor". As of the moment, LaBeouf has been charged with two counts of disorderly conduct, one count of criminal trespassing, and one count of harassment. He has yet to be released.

This is, sadly, only the latest of LaBeouf's many brushes with the law. In January 2014, LaBeouf headbutted a man during a bar fight and in December 2013 LaBeouf apologized for plagiarizing a comic — those incidents simply being the most recent of a history of strange and illegal behavior from the former Disney star.

This news comes mere days after the first trailer was released for Fury, a film that Shia LaBeouf will be starring in alongside Logan Lerman and Brad Pitt. Whether or not his arrested will throw a wrench in any of the promotional appearances and interviews in which LaBeouf would have been involved in the upcoming months still remains to be seen.
