'Big Bang Theory' Cast Can Now Buy 133,333 Containers of Lo Mein Thanks to New Raises

It looks like the main cast of CBS's The Big Bang Theory have finally settled their salary negotiations with Warner Bros. TV. Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, and Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting have signed their new contracts to the tune of a rumored $1 million per episode. The other two original cast members, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar are still finalizing their contracts, and Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch, who round out the main ensemble, are already signed on for season eight.

In addition to the raise, the actors contracts have been renewed for an additional three seasons, leaving the door open for as many as 11 seasons of TV's most popular show. The negotiations have delayed production on the eighth season, which was set to begin July 30, about a week to August 6 (assuming Helberg and Nayyar can be convinced to sign their contracts).

But more to the point: $1 million dollars is a lot of money. It's so much money in fact, that I can 't even visualize what $1 million dollars looks like (that's a one with six zeroes after it!). So to put it in terms the average Big Bang Theory fan is more likely to understand, let's take a look at how many of their favorite things Sheldon, Leonard, and Penny could buy with that sum.

121,951 orders of Chinese takeout

If the going price of chicken lo mein is about $7.50, the Big Bang characters could takeout about 133,333 orders before they broke the bank if they made as much as their real life counterparts. And even if they added an egg roll and some egg drop soup, they’re still looking at about 121,951 take out orders before they’re no longer financially solvent. That’s a lot of MSG.

50,000 Super Hero T-Shirts

Considering that they make up what seems to be Sheldon’s entire wardrobe, his affinity for superhero t-shirts is no secret. At about $20 a pop, with his raise, Jim Parsons could buy Sheldon 50,000 brand new shirts. Bazinga!

40,016 Cardigans

If there’s one thing Mayim Bialik’s Amy Farrah Fowler loves, it’s a good cardigan. Jim Parson’s could afford to woo his alter ego’s lady love(ish) with more than 40,000 of them.

20,000 Pairs of Chuck Taylors

Leonard is rarely seen without his trusty pair of Chuck Taylor classic sneakers. After seven years of wear and tear though, Johnny Galecki can definitely afford to donate another pair — or 20,000 — to the cause.

118,063 Bottles of Wine

Penny likes to drink — a lot. (No shame in that sister, we all enjoy a nice adult beverage now and then). Penny strikes me as a $8 bottle of wine girl, meaning Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting could afford to treat her to about 118,000 bottles of Pinot.

48,332 copies of 'Firefly'

Good news for Sheldon — Jim Parson’s could put his salary bump toward 48,332 copies of Firefly: The Complete Series on Blu-ray.
