Kid Cudi's Career Is About to Take Off

by Kenya Foy

Over the past few months, Kid Cudi's progress in the film industry proves that he has no intention of allowing his artistry to be confined to one form of expression. While Cudi gave his latest album the Beyoncé treatment and released it without warning, he's also putting in some hard work by steadily expanding his acting portfolio. In February, Cudi nabbed a role in the Entourage film, which is slated for release next year. Now, for his latest project, Variety reports that Cudi will join the cast of Meadowland. No word on what specific role Cudi will play, but he can count Natasha Lyonne, Olivia Wilde, Giovanni Ribisi and Ty Simpkins amongst his co-stars in the film, which tells the story of a couple coping with the aftermath of their son's disappearance.

It would be an understatement to say that this year's been a huge one for Cudi, who's practically taken flight since he landed a starring role in James White, as well as the opportunity to score the film. Based off what he's done so far, next year will likely be off the charts.

With all the new acting roles, I fully expect him to delve more into the TV/film scene. His scoring role shows that he's also pretty comfortable behind the scenes, so it would make sense for him to take on more of those opportunities.

It's not even too far-fetched to anticipate him directing or producing a short film of his own. Aside from the possibility of Cudi's Hollywood buddy list growing beyond his friendship with David Hasselhoff, if his acting continues to gain momentum at its current pace, his music will also benefit largely from these successes.

Even though he often speaks about not desiring fame, it's safe to say that the difference between this year and next year for Kid Cudi will be day and night.
