Here's Joe The Plumber's Racist Facebook Screed

by Lauren Barbato

Have you caught yourself wondering over the last week, "You know who I really want to hear weigh in on Ferguson? Joe The Plumber." If you did, you're in luck: Average American/Sarah Palin BFF Samuel Wurzelbacher, also known as Joe The Plumber, released his take on Ferguson in not one, not two, but three Facebook posts. And boy, are they racist, classist and dehumanizing.

Wurzelbacher maintains a lively Facebook page, which typically turns into a forum for other like-minded Libertarian-leaning Facebook users. This week, Wurzelbacher took quite the stance on Ferguson, labeling Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon "the most irresponsible governor in the United States" because he called for the prosecution of Darren Wilson, the officer who allegedly shot and killed 18-year-old Michael Brown.

As for Wurzelbacher's thoughts on the residents of Ferguson, well, that's where it gets ugly. This is how Wurzelbacher suggests quelling the ongoing protests in Ferguson:

The best way to end the rioting and looting in Ferguson [is with a] job fair. They'll scatter like cockroaches when the lights come on!

That's right — he just compared the protesters in Ferguson to "cockroaches," while also implying that they're unemployed and lazy. Unfortunately, that's hardly the only post Wurzelbacher had about Ferguson. He took his racist, classist screed one step further with this post:

It's interesting that one of the items NOT being looted in Ferguson is work boots?

I'm not sure why he placed that question mark there. Is it for emphasis? Is he actually unsure that no one has looted work boots in Ferguson? Or is he looking for validation that he's not the only one with these awful thoughts?

Oh, Joe. How fast you've fallen from that "ordinary American guy" schtick on the 2008 McCain-Palin presidential campaign. When it comes to insensitivity, Wurzelbacher has been on a roll this year. After the Santa Barbara shooting spree of Elliot Rodger in May, Wurzelbacher fired back at the grieving parents in a very classy way.

In an open letter to the parents of Rodger's gunshot victims, Wurzelbacher said:

I am sorry you lost your child. I myself have a son and daughter and the one thing I never want to go through, is what you are going through now. But: As harsh as this sounds – your dead kids don’t trump my Constitutional rights.

Wurzelbacher also added a little something about "Obama voters" and "wackos" who vote Democratic. He ended with the sympathetic, I feel for your loss, but: "any feelings you have toward my rights being taken away from me, lose those."

You stay classy, Joe.
