Can You Spot the Hipster?

Everyone young enough to know a hipster is awar that hipsters love to get their photo taken. As Buzzfeed has proven, the hipster community is capable of beautiful Instagram feeds, hilarious Snapchat art, and general photo silliness. We also know that the '90s are back, and not in a #tbt kind of way. Yet with all the "'90s kid" nostalgia and the triumphant return of dance pants last year, millennials might not have realized how close our "throwback" looks have gotten to real, old-timey '90s fashion.

Since today is the 15th anniversary of Christina Aguilera's iconic self-titled album, I issue a challenge to so-called "'90s kids." When it comes down to it, can you tell hipster photos apart from stills from the "Genie in a Bottle" music video? Of course, I'm not going to make it easy, since Christina's fringey crop top and orange dance pants are probably still burned into your brain. No these will be a selection of the most Insta-ready stills and the most '90s hipsters around. For some of the images, you might even start singing "Reflection" in quiet desperation.

Also, don't cheat and watch the video. Even if your body's sayin' "let's go," your heart is sayin' "no."

Round 1: The Man in the Hat

Is this hat a sign of a hipster on a beach? Or did Xtina put a '90s hunk in bucket hat because they were "in" at the time?

Verdict: "Genie in a Bottle." You gotta rub this hat the right way.

Round 2: The Choker

Christina wore chokers, right?

The Verdict: Hipster. It's too bad, since this probably would have complemented Christina's dance pants nicely.

Round 3: The Girl in the Bandanna

How artsy. Or retro. Could be either, really.

The Verdict: "Genie in a Bottle." Sadly, iridescent bandannas haven't come back the way I'd hoped.

Round 4: The Campstagram

Methinks the someone overused Toaster. Or had a '90s beach-bum hangout.

The Verdict: "Genie in a Bottle." Okay, I may have cheated by square-cropping this, but that orange tent-shelter is still SO '90s.

Round 5: The Eyes

Those bangs and sunglasses are clearly a throwback, but do they belong to one of Christina's friends?

The Verdict: Hipster. Those are still great sunglasses, though.
