Every 'Bunheads' Fan Needs to Watch This

by Alanna Bennett

A show's cancellation can be devastating in a lot of ways — not just for the fans but for the cast and crew of the show as well. Bunheads, canceled after one season on ABC Family, recently experienced this very sadness. In the spirit of a true ensemble show, however, the show's creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, brought the cast back together one last time for a tribute to the show.

The show, which was canceled five months after the first season, followed a woman (Sutton Foster) as she acclimated to life as a small-town dance teacher, and included an ensemble cast of young female dancers (and former Emily Gilmore, Kelly Bishop).

Unfortunately neither Foster nor Bishop was available for the performance, but the rest of the cast gathered last weekend for what looked like a very sweet reunion. The line-up — including Bailey Buntain (Ginny), Julia Goldani Telles (Sasha), Kaitlyn Jenkins (Boo), Jeanine Mason (Cozette), and more — performed to Elton John's “Blues for Baby and Me." The performance was choreographed by Marguerite Derricks and directed by Sherman-Palladino.

The video is a nice reminder of the heart and community spirit that was at the core of the show itself, and a fitting send-off to a show that often featured sweeping dance numbers just like this one.
