She's The New Face Of L'oreal Paris

by Tess Yocom

A new spokeswoman has entered the beauty world to help brighten up your Monday morning. Helen Mirren is joining L'Oreal Paris as the latest celebrity ambassador for the brand. The 69-year-old Oscar-winning actress will join the ranks of Blake Lively and Eva Longoria as a representative of the beauty brand. Becoming the face of one of the most iconic makeup brands in the world? Sounds like a pretty good gig.

How did Mirren accept her new role? She’s been pretty humble about the whole thing. Despite her stunning looks, the actress says she’s never seen herself as a beauty role model. "I am not gorgeous and I never was, but I was always OK looking and I'm keen to stay that way," she said. Of course, her stunning photos tell quite a different story about her looks. Gorgeous and polite? Sounds likes a winner.

Fans of the drugstore brand are also pretty happy about their new spokeswoman. In a L’Oreal consumer survey, she was constantly ranked as one of the top choices to represent the brand for being genuine but glamorous — and only improving with age. L’Oreal manager Elen Macaskill also described her as “brilliant, irreverent, beautiful, sexy and quintessentially British.”

In the ever-growing twenty-something beauty world, it’s nice to see an icon who represents women of all ages. Mirren has proven herself as a brilliant actress and it’s refreshing to see someone her age represent beauty as a whole — not just anti-aging products. The L’Oreal photos are stunning without being over-the-top — a perfect representation of her beauty.

It’s also great to know that L’Oreal actually listens to their consumers and gives them the spokeswoman they want. It’s part of any effective marketing plan to survey consumers, but delivering on the promise is a win for everyone.
