Bacon Mac & Cheese Donuts Exist Now... What?

Guys? I love macaroni and cheese. I love it homemade and I love it deep-fried; I love it Kardashian-style and I love it in a grilled cheese sandwich. And crazy as it sounds, I'd probably love it in donut form, too. Actually, there's no need to speculate — a bacon mac and cheese donut exists now, and as far as I'm concerned, it's basically everything I never knew I wanted from this world.

I know what you're thinking — enough is enough. When it comes to the wild and wacky world of crazy food hybrids, we've done and seen it all, and there's just something about the donut that seems to lend itself so well to bizarre food mashups. First there was the cronut, which seemed innocent enough. Then Tim Horton's hit us with the buffalo crunch donut, which paved the way for the cheeseburger-stuffed donut, and before you knew it, we found ourselves facing all kinds of culinary monstrosities. Donuts crafted from ramen noodles and filled with cream? Sure, why not? Whoopie pies made 100 percent out of cheese? Apparently fair game. "Will this madness ever end?!" we asked ourselves while clutching our cragels (a croissant-bagel hybrid, natch) to our chests in bewilderment. Were we brave enough to face what was to come next?!

Honestly, I think we all need to just relax. Take a deep breath. It's a donut, not the apocalypse. The latest food hybrid in question comes to us from our friends at PYT, a Philadelphia-based burger establishment that takes pleasure in mashing together menu items to create out-of-this-world concoctions (these are the folks who brought us the PB&J burger for those of you keeping track, and they're currently featuring mini fried chicken burgers as its burger of the week). The food mavens describe its newest experiment as a "warm glazed donut studded with cheesy, bacon-y mac & cheese, topped with crumbled bacon." It may sound intimidating, but if you break this bad boy down to its simplest elements, there's a lot here to love. Cheese? Yes. Bacon? YES. And as long as we're in the spirit of thinking outside the box, if you ask me, this is really just a glorified excuse to eat macaroni and cheese for breakfast, which is something I can fully throw my support behind, anytime.

Look. Pretty soon, we're going to be so used to eating weird foods in donut form, it won't even be worth talking about anymore, so we might as well enjoy this while it lasts. (Except, come on, people: When it comes to macaroni and cheese, there is always something to say.)

The bacon mac and cheese donuts are available now, but only at PYT. So if you were planning a road trip to Philly, now is the time to do it. And hey, as long as you're feeling adventurous, feel free to wash this down with some Doritos-flavored Mountain Dew. Ahh, what a weird and wonderful world we live in.
