Another 'Real World' Alum Honors Diem Brown

by Kenya Foy

In the wake of Diem Brown's passing, numerous alums, friends and fans of MTV's The Challenge have had nothing but kind and touching memories to share about the 34-year-old who succumbed to ovarian cancer on Nov. 14. Shortly after her passing, Brown's on-again, off-again boyfriend Chris "CT" Tamburello posted a touching Instagram tribute that reminded everyone of the couple's strong connection. Now another of Brown's close friends has created something equally beautiful in her honor. Real World: Denver alum Davis Mallory penned a tribute song called "Beautiful Girls (Diem's Song)" that perfectly captures Brown's competitive, fearless, resilient, spunky nature.

In "Beautiful Girls (Diem's Song)," Mallory sings, "Beautiful girls ain’t supposed to die young. They were born to fly. They were meant to run. It’s not the way it’s supposed to be, taking someone like you away from me." Brown would be proud of this song because, according to those who knew her well, it's the sort of thoughtful gesture she herself was known for — like when Brown created MedGift, a charitable organization that encourages others to assist patients who may be experiencing a "health related hardship or need."

As a fan of The Challenge, one thing that stood out about Brown is the fact that there didn't seem to be many things she hesitated to do, and obviously dancing was one of them. "Beautiful Girls" is a mid-tempo ballad, but, given Brown's penchant to bust a move at a moment's notice, she'd probably still find a way to dance around to this song with her signature twirls and energetic choreography. To accompany the song in a way that helps to reflect Brown's infectious spirit, Mallory also created a video montage of moments from Diem's life, including a few red carpet interviews, intimate clips of her in the hospital, flashbacks from her numerous Challenge appearances and more.
