Sephora x Pantone's Marsala Collection Is So Luxe

by Alexa Tucker

In case anyone's looking for any last minute stocking stuffers for me, anything from Sephora's Color of the Year Collection would be a more than suitable option. I'm more than happy with the selection of Marsala (or 18-1483, to the Pantone-trained eye) for the 2015 Color of the Year, but unlike years past, the most exciting part about the choice isn't the fashion opportunities — it's the beauty trends that will spring from it.

To be clear, I'm not talking about a chicken Marsala-colored palette — I'm talking about Marsala as in the wine. So obviously, this hue is flawless in nature, right?

“A naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability,” says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while it’s grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.”

In plain English? Marsala a sexy, sophisticated mauve-ish red color. Read: perfect for makeup products. The collection includes an eyeshadow palette, a mascara and brow highlighter, an eyeliner, a lip crayon set, a lipstick, a blush palette, and a slanted-bristle blush brush. Most interesting to me, though, is a cooling balm that imparts just a hint of color. Sounds like the perfect low-maintenance purse companion. The collection ranges from $18 to $39, and they're set to hit stores and Sephora's website sometime this month. They're worth keeping an eye out for, but don't take my word for it — take a look for yourself at some of the luxe items the collection includes.
