Rihanna's 'FourFiveSeconds' Video Will Be Classic

by Kenya Foy

Once again, Rihanna's proven herself to be completely in tune with the needs of her fans: I mean, she's obviously aware that releasing her new track "FourFiveSeconds" with Kanye West and Paul McCartney without any warning whatsoever nearly caused everyone to have a nervous breakdown. So, instead of putting us through another mental health crisis by dropping a surprise video for the song, Rihanna has graciously given us a hint of the direction she's taking with the visuals — you know, so we can all be totally prepared. On Friday, Rihanna released a "FourFiveSeconds" behind-the-scenes teaser featuring West and McCartney, and from the looks of things, it will feature the same classic, lovely simplicity of the song's promotional photos.

Now when I first listened to "FourFiveSeconds," I honestly envisioned clips of Rih Rih and Kanye performing while McCartney strums a guitar intently (and maybe, as the melody plays, she stares off into the desert hills, while the sand blowing around her somehow knows better than to get in her eyes). But, judging by this short preview, I couldn't have been more off base: At a minute and 56 seconds long, not much can be gleaned from the video, but I definitely expect the final cut to involve more than shots of Rihanna, Yeezy and McCartney performing against a simple, solid backdrop.

Though the video is short, though, it doesn't mean there aren't a couple of interesting moments: Such as when Rihanna describes her badass Yeezy-styled denim wardrobe as classic and "iconic, just like the f***ing Beatles."

Overall, it looks like the video will be seriously toned down compared to the Rihanna we've seen before. But hey, there's levels to rockstar badassery to this video, and it's awesome to see a different side of Rih Rih.

Guess we'll find out when the full video arrives. Until then, check out the "FourFiveSeconds" teaser below:
