'Little Women: NY's Jordanna Hit Broadway

by Laura Rosenfeld

From Little Women: LA, we know that many little people choose to have careers in show biz. So it shouldn't come as a surprise that many of the cast members of the Lifetime docuseries' spin-off Little Women: NY would also make a living as entertainers. However, few of them have come close to the success that Jordanna James has had in show business, achieving what many people only get to dream about, starring in a Broadway show. So what Broadway musical was Jordanna in?

Jordanna starred in the revival of the musical Side Show, which opened on Broadway Nov. 17, 2014. Side Show is based on the true story of Daisy and Violet Hilton, conjoined twins whose career in show business in the 1920s and 1930s would take them from carnivals to vaudeville to Hollywood films. Despite their adversity, Daisy and Violet try to find love and their own identities along the way.

In the musical, Jordanna played a character called the Cossack Woman opposite Josh Walker as one-half of "the World's Tiniest Cossacks" in a side show with the Hilton twins. For her Broadway debut, Jordanna wore a folky-looking Russian dress with ghoulish makeup. Remember, she's supposed to look pretty freaky.

Unfortunately for Jordanna, Side Show closed on Broadway on Jan. 4, 2015 after only 56 performances. Though reviews were positive overall, many of the critics agreed that the re-tooled revival wasn't enough to fix the issues with the 1997 original Broadway show. Well, that's show biz for ya.

However, I have a good feeling that Jordanna will be just fine. Before hitting Broadway, Jordanna joined Miley Cyrus on her Bangerz Tour. She is also a member of the New York-based burlesque group Sass N' Betties, whose steamy routines make the brief burlesque stint of Little Women: LA 's Elena Gant look like something out of a church Christmas pageant. It also looks like Jordanna had an early call time for something back in January, so perhaps we will see her in a new project before we know it.

Until then, I'm sure Little Women: NY will have enough theatrics to satisfy this drama queen.
