You're Going To Need These Bookmarks

by Caitlin White

We literature nerds know that books make the best gifts ever, whether you're going to a baby shower, birthday party, or even a wedding. But these insanely creative leg bookmarks by Olena Mysnyk up the ante on any book gift — though if you buy one for a friend, you're absolutely going to wish you bought one for yourself too. Think ahead: Buy two.

Mysnyk is a designer and the creative force behind MyBOOKmark, an Etsy shop and brand of adorable bookmarks that look like tiny feet sticking out of the pages of your favorite novel. Each bookmark is handmade by Mysnyk's MyBOOKmark team out of clay, metal, and paint, and they have some of your favorite characters to go along with the book you're reading.

Mysnyk is based out of Kiev, Ukraine, and she has put her master's degree in architecture to unexpected use, choosing to scale down to the miniature rather than designing buildings or homes. On her Etsy About Me page, Mysnyk explains her reasoning, "My biggest passion is to create unusual things that make people smile."

Whether your younger sister is reading The Hobbit or your cousin is wrapped up in Fifty Shades of Grey , there's a complementary bookmark that will add a touch more whimsy to the reading experience.

If you show up to your niece's birthday party with a copy of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum and this Wicked Witch of the East bookmark, you're going to be the hero to both the birthday girl and all the adults. For YA fans, this works just as well with Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige.

This may be the only way you can get your friend the Louboutins she craves.

Um, ballerina story Tiny Pretty Things is coming out this month, *nudge*.

Somehow this can even make hobbit feet look adorable.

For your favorite bodice-ripper, of course.

Hello.

Best beach read bookmark ever.

Don't worry, there are animal feet, too, like these bear paws...

...and these dog tails for your copies of Marley & Me , Old Yeller, The Hound of the Baskervilles, and The Call of the Wild.

If like me, you've decided these are a must-get and must-gift, you can check out more of her creations on the Etsy page and her MyBOOKmark Facebook page. And um, P.S. my birthday is in December.
