'Entourage' Hater Raises $10K To Watch The Movie

by Marenah Dobin

This is definitely an odd story, to say the least. There's a woman named Wendy Molyneux Drake who hates Entourage and does not want to see the movie. OK, so that's not a big deal, but she takes her dislike for the HBO series to a new level of hatred. She created a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for CureSearch, a children's cancer research nonprofit, with a goal of raising at least $10,000. If she met her $10,000 goal, Drake said she would force herself to see the Entourage movie in theaters. That's kind of an insane amount of effort to make for a show that she supposedly hates, but whatever, it's for charity. As an Entourage fan myself, I will put my offense to the side and applaud her for raising money for a good cause.

I wonder if she will see the movie more than once if she ends up raising significant amount more than her initial goal. What if she ends up becoming a fan of the film and ends up binge-watching the series after she watches the movie? Perhaps it's a far-fetched idea, but personally, I think the Entourage characters a pretty endearing.

To me, the whole idea is a little strange since aside from donating to a great charitable organization, it does give publicity to a movie she hates. But, I may have been the only one, since Entourage star Jerry Ferrara even donated to the campaign. I suppose there's some sort of reverse psychology at work there. Other famous stars like Christina Applegate, Megan Mullally, and Nick Offerman also donated to the page.

I'm not sure if it was in the name of charity, to promote the movie, or possibly to combine both causes, but Drake's page turned out to be a success. As of this moment, Drake has raised over $23,000. Anyway, she did help the CureSearch organization and everyone who worked on the Entourage movie, so it was definitely a good deed on her part! If you want to contribute, check out her page!
