T. Swift's "Tim McGraw" Turns Nine — NINE!!!!

by Caitlyn Callegari

Sometimes, you’re just sipping on your coffee, minding your own business, scrolling through your Twitter feed, and then suddenly, a bomb gets dropped on you. A particularly Earth shattering and potent bomb, in the form of Taylor Swift alerting us all that her first single debuted nine years ago on Friday, June 19, 2006. The noteworthy single that Swift was being a wee bit cryptic about? Well, it’s none other than the emotionally staying tune, “Tim McGraw,” of course. How could any of us longtime Swifties forget? It was the anthem that went along with many of our first heartbreaks.

As if it weren’t enough that we were all already all parked in front of our mirrors, checking for gray hairs and crow’s feet on the daily, Tay had to go and do this to us. But, I suppose other than it being an omen of our own fading youth, it’s also a sweet and reminiscent reminder of just how long Swift has been in our lives, making us all feel a little less alone in our emotions.

So, whether or not you were a fan of T. Swift at the time of “Tim McGraw’s” debut or you found her somewhere else along the line, join me in celebrating her major milestone with these nine amazing performances of “Tim McGraw” in honor of its nine year anniversary.
