Ciara & Russell Wilson & 7 More Celeb Couples Who Practiced Abstinence

Not every celeb couple is offering up details about their sex lives. Take Russell Wilson and Ciara who are abstaining from sex, for instance. That's right, this famous duo isn't having sex — at the moment. As Wilson revealed Sunday, July 5, during an appearance at The Rock Church, “She was on tour and I was looking at her in the mirror, and she was sitting there. And God spoke to me and said ‘I need you to lead her.’ And I was like, ‘Really? Right now?’ And he goes, ‘No, I want you and need you to lead her.’ And I asked her, ‘What would you do if we took all that extra stuff off the table? And just did it Jesus’ way?'"

Wilson clarified that yes, he is indeed talking about sex and that the two are waiting to have sex — whether that means until marriage or until they deem the right moment remains unclear. He added, "For me, I knew that God had brought me in her life to bless her and for her to bless me,” he said. “We’re not going to be perfect, by any means. But he’s anointed both of us and he’s calling for us to do something special.

Wilson and Ciara aren't the only famous faces to abstain from sex. Many other celeb couples have done the exact same thing. Click through for seven more celebrity couples who waited to have sex for a variety of reasons.

Tamera Mowry & Adam Housley

Tamera Mowry was a virgin until age 29 and had sex with now husband Adam Housley before they married in 2011. However, soon after losing her virginity, Mowry wanted to wait to have sex until she was officially married (which was three years later). She told Hot 97’s radio station, “You may not understand this [but] I did it, then I felt guilty, then I became celibate until I got married.”

Sean Lowe & Catherine Giudici

These Bachelor stars didn’t take advantage of that famous fantasy suite, but rather Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici waited until their wedding night in 2014 to have sex. With Lowe being a “born-again virgin” until marriage, he and Giudici abstained from sex. According to her, their wedding night sex was “quick fireworks.” At least there were fireworks?

Meagan Good & DeVon Franklin

Minority Report actress Meagan Good and her husband DeVon Franklin also didn’t have sex until they said “I do” in 2012. While chatting with Essence in 2012, Franklin, a film exec, opened about how he and his wife remained celibate until marriage. Actually, he was celibate for 10 years before marrying Good, but through their commitment to one another abstinence was easy.

Kevin Jonas & Danielle Deleasa

The former Jonas Brothers singer and his now wife didn’t have sex until they married in 2009. Even though Kevin Jonas and Danielle Deleasa waited to have sex, it didn’t seem like Jonas thought that was a good choice. After the fact, he told Bliss Magazine, “Sex was not worth the wait. After we did it, I was kind of like, that’s it?”

Jessica Simpson & Nick Lachey

Before divorcing in 2006, Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson were known for abstaining from sex until they walked down the aisle in 2002. Mariah Carey & Nick Cannon

Yes, these two had sex with other people before becoming a couple. However, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon abstained from having sex before they married in 2008. As Carey told the Mirror in 2008, “It’s not that we had NO intimacy, we just didn’t have complete intimacy. It’s just me, and my feelings. I definitely don’t want to push it on anybody else. But we both have similar beliefs, and I just thought that it would be so much more special if we waited until after we were married. And it was, and it still is.”
