'Fast & Furious' Jokes Are Absolutely Cruel

by Lindsay Mannering

It's one thing when it's a joke, it's another when it's real. As TMZ initially reported (Bustle's request for comment has not been returned) Fast and Furious star Paul Walker is dead. His rep has confirmed that the 40-year-old actor died in a car accident in Santa Clarita, Calif. on Saturday afternoon. According to the Web site, Walker and an unidentified passenger were in a Porsche when they lost control and collided with a tree, a post, or some object. The resultant crash was fiery and allegedly killed both. Walker was in town for a car show that was to profit Philippine typhoon relief. The L.A. police department and the coroner's office are investigating.

To make matters worse, the Twittersphere can't help but make some tasteless jokes at Walker's expense. The fact that the actor was most famous for his car racing roles has provided sad fodder for those who want to poke fun at the way that Walker died. A Fast and Furious joke is not too obvious, nor too classless for those Twitter personalities out there who can't wait to use their best puns in the face of true tragedy. While I'm not excited about sharing the worst that's out there, perhaps bringing the negative into the light will help some of this darkness go away. Think I'm being overly dramatic? Read on.
