More Sad News For Kim Richards

After a particularly difficult week, it appears that more bad news may be in store for Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards. On Sunday, August 2, Richards was arrested for allegedly shoplifting up to $600 worth of merchandise from a Target in Van Nuys, California. The RHOBH star was released on $5,000 bail, and Us Weekly reported on Saturday, August 8, that "concerned family members" have admitted Richards to the hospital in light of the troubling incident. The hospital admission was alleged by "multiple sources." Bustle reached out to Richards' rep for comment, but has not heard back yet.

The reality television star's painful past with substance abuse has long been a focal point on RHOBH, and Richards inspired audiences after becoming sober. As is common with addiction, Richards suffered a relapse and checked into a rehabilitation facility after being arrested for public intoxication in April. According to TMZ, Richards exited the treatment center after 30 days due to contentions with the doctors and staff.

Relapse is not the only issue Richards has been facing as of late. The star's ex-husband, Monty Brinson, has been diagnosed as terminally ill, and Richards has acted as the caretaker. In addition, US Weekly reported that her son, Chad, "wasn't well" during the time Richards talked about her issues with sobriety in an interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Despite the many unfortunate trials Richards has faced, much of her strength and commitment to sobriety has been showcased during interviews and segments on RHOBH. I wish Richards all the best, and an easier time moving forward during this trying time.
