J.Crew Is Turning Focus Back To "Heritage" Line

by Emily Kirkpatrick

For preppy girls the world over, the J.Crew catalogue is essentially a fashion bible, offering up not only super-covetable twists on wardrobe basics, but also innovative ways to style your look from head to toe. Some of the very best items are from J.Crew's "Heritage" collection, which the brand has announced it will be focusing on even more in the coming seasons.

If you're confused right now about how J.Crew's "Heritage" offerings are any different from what you're usually seeing in stores, allow me to clarify. The brand essentially offers up two collections every season. One consists of their tried and true basics, or the "Heritage" pieces, which will henceforth be designed by Somsack Sikhounmuong, previously at Madewell, who recently joined the brand as head of women's design. The other J.Crew offerings consist of slightly pricier, more high fashion pieces, an aesthetic spearheaded by creative director Jenna Lyons (#queen). Think Lyons' amazing penchant for mixing sequins, denim, and plaid, and there you have the line in a nutshell.

While Lyons' creations get most of the fashion blogger love, there's something to be said for J.Crew's wardrobe-perfecting staples. Here's five of their best pieces, each of which will make that tough transition into fall just a little bit sweeter.
