Kanye's Speech Wasn't Too Long, Haters

Kanye West accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards with lots of swagger — and time. After Taylor Swift presented him with the award, Yeezy's speech went on for awhile. Sure, Kanye spoke at the VMAs for a long time in a speech that ended with him declaring he will run for president in 2020, but he totally deserved that soapbox, despite some members of the VMA audience audibly booing. (Can it, haters.) After all, West had a lot of things to say, from apologizing to Swift once more, talking about Twitter feuds and TV ratings, and dressing the music industry in general.

And West is not one to hold his tongue. Swift presented the Vanguard lifetime achievement award to the rapper, because everyone still remembers that moment back in 2009 when Kanye rushed the stage to declare who really deserved her VMA. West's speech encompassed so many topics, plus the fact that he smoked some weed before hand. (Gotta love that honesty.)

Even more worth our attention? The part where Kanye actually said he was running for president (and then tweeted #VoteForKanye minutes later). Is this real life? I'm not sure, but what I do know is that Kanye delivered a heartfelt speech that, while extremely long (seriously, Pitchfork tweeted that it ran 13 minutes), made some seriously important points. So instead of just making fun of Kanye, maybe we could focus on what he actually said.

We hear you, Kanye. Now, about the presidential run...
