Earth, Wind, & Fire Perform On 'Pitbull's New Year's Revolution' & It's Legendary
What do you get when the legendary Earth, Wind, & Fire performs one of the biggest songs of the year? You get down and dance, of course! Earth, Wind, & Fire performed "Uptown Funk" with Austin Mahone on Pitbill's New Year's Revolution on Thursday night and it proved why the band is still so hot right now. The popular funk band rocked the stage at Bayfront Park in Miami, Florida, to perform their classic song "When You Wish Upon A Star," before closing out 2015 with their own funky version of Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson's smash hit "Uptown Funk."
The stage came alive with Earth, Wind, & Fire began the opening chords of "Shining Star," a song you cannot help but get groovy to whether you're in the Miami crowd or you're celebrating the new year in your pajamas. But once the band transitioned to "Uptown Funk" and Mahone joined them to perform the ubiquitous hit song, the crowd went wild and the dancing was contagious. How could you not want to get down with the band that was founded in 1969 and Mahone, who was born way after that year? It just proved that age is nothing but a number and great music lives forever.
When it comes to Earth, Wind, & Fire, it's hard to find an accomplishment they haven't already done. The band has a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, has sold millions of records, and has given us so many classic songs: "September" and "Let's Groove" are two you might recognize. With all of those accomplishments, I think it's safe to say that Earth, Wind, & Fire knows how get down to a hit song — even one that isn't their own —and ring in the new year right.
