'The Voice' Winner Jordan Smith Is Engaged & It Tops Off A Great Year For The Singer — PHOTO
The Voice Season 9 winner Jordan Smith accomplished a lot in 2015. This past fall, the 22-year-old Kentucky native won the hearts of many NBC viewers of the vocal competition show, ending the season as the champion. And right before his banner year ended, he made one more dream come true: getting engaged. Yes, Jordan Smith is engaged, after proposing to Kristen Denny on New Year's Eve. The singer posted a photo on Instagram and Twitter of the couple, showing Denny wearing a beautiful engagement ring. Read the caption, "RINGING in the new year with my future wife! She said yes!" Smith added a cute hashtag, too: #MrAndMrsSmith.
The couple even got a congratulatory tweet from actor/director Henry Winkler, which said, "Long live the Smiths." Aww! These two are too cute. The Voice fans are familiar with Denny, who has stood by and supported Smith as he competed on show this fall. She was present while Smith stunned viewers with his incredibly rendition of Sia's "Chandelier" during the Blind Audition round and all four Voice coaches turned around, wanting to work with his amazing pipes (in the end, Smith choose Adam Levine). Throughout the season, Smith and Denny had FaceTime dates as he split time between Kentucky and Los Angeles, where The Voice is filmed.
As the newly crowned winner of The Voice, Smith has won a recording contract with Republic Records and has made numerous public appearances since then. Most recently, he started 2016 by singing the National Anthem at the NHL Winter Classic hockey game on New Year's Day. Smith told reporters at a Voice press conference that "The Star-Spangled Banner" is one of his favorite songs and he hopes he gets to sing it at the Super Bowl — and coach Levine was supportive of that decision.
It sounds like Smith has even bigger dreams to fulfill in 2016.
