Erykah Badu Shares Remix Of Kanye's "Real Friends"

by Kristie Rohwedder

Less than a week after Yeezy shared (and deleted and re-shared) his new collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign, Erykah Badu enveloped the stunning record in her arms and created a spellbindingly beautiful remix (i.e., she treated it just like she treated Drake’s “Hotline Bling”). Tuesday, Erykah Badu blessed us with “TRILL FRIENDS,” a remix of Kanye West’s “Real Friends.” As Pitchfork points out, the incomparable artist's rendition of the tune includes lyrics from “Friends,” hip-hop trio Whodini’s hit track from 1984. According to the song’s Soundcloud page, “TRILL FRIENDS” will be included on Badu’s to-be-released mixtape THIS $h!t TOO EASY.

When the “On & On” singer releases a remix of another popular musician’s song, you do not mosey on over to the nearest music player at a leisurely pace. You do not walk. You do not jog. Do you know what you do? You sprint as fast as your legs will allow. You might even throw a leap or two in there. Whatever gets you to the music quickest. You do not want to waste a single second. Because when Q.U.E.E.N. Badu decides to add her iconic voice to a track, it is a very big deal.

Go ahead and give your ears the gift of “TRILL FRIENDS," my friend:

Don't mind me as I let the smooth one-two punch of "Real Friends" and "TRILL FRIENDS" carry me through the rest of this week.
