Eagles' Glenn Frey Dies At The Age Of 67

In some extremely sad news, the Eagles announced on Monday via their official website that co-founder and guitarist of the band Glenn Frey died at the age of 67. According to Frey's band members, rheumatoid arthritis, acute ulcerative colitis, and pneumonia contributed to his death. Frey's health issues were also the reason the Eagles didn't attend the 2015 Kennedy Center Honors, but postponed their appearance until 2016. Sadly, now Frey will not be part of the ceremony.

The band's announcement of Frey's passing reads as follows:

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our comrade, Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York City on Monday, January 18th, 2016. Glenn fought a courageous battle for the past several weeks but, sadly, succumbed to complications from Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia. The Frey family would like to thank everyone who joined Glenn to fight this fight and hoped and prayed for his recovery. Words can neither describe our sorrow, nor our love and respect for all that he has given to us, his family, the music community & millions of fans worldwide.

The Eagles might not be a band name the younger generation recognizes, and if you count yourself as someone unfamiliar with the band you should definitely should check them out. Their contributions to the music industry are phenomenal and will forever be remembered by many. Even if you're not familiar with the Eagles, I'm sure you've heard their songs at some point in time.

So, for those who are unfamiliar with Frey and his band, here are a few of their many (and I mean many) hits. Be sure to check out some of their other music and albums, because it's worth a listen.
