Have Some Cap With a Dash Of Winter Soldier

by Alanna Bennett

Yes. Yessssssss. You guys, it's time for another Captain America: The Winter Soldier trailer. It is time, and it is about time. This one features all our big players, from Jackson, to Redford, to Mackie, to Johansson, to of course, Chris Evans' Cap himself. And for this we must thank the consumerist magnetism held by the Superbowl, for it is that which Marvel decided to leverage in their release of this second trailer, first with a 30 second spot on TV and then with a full-length version on the Internets.

"Most of the intelligence community doesn't believe he exists," Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff says at the beginning of the trailer. She's referring to the Winter Soldier, whom Natasha refers to as a "ghost," and who is played by Sebastian Stan. In general we get to see a lot more of the Winter Soldier in this trailer, compared to the flashes of action-scene badassery we saw in that first trailer. Although make no mistake, that action-scene badassery is certainly still present.

And so is a great big moral dilemma: "To build a better world sometimes means tearing the old one down," Robert Redford tells Cap.

Other things we see more of? The Falcon, played by Anthony Mackie; Black Widow being awesome; lots of tumbles and explosions. You know the drill. There's also Natasha and Cap standing over a body covered in a sheet, so someone definitely dies and they are definitely sad about it. So. There's that.

Here's the 30 second spot, with the Star Spangled Banner playing obviously but fittingly in the background:

And the full length one:
