The Weeknd's Oscar Performance Is Undeniably Hot

by Michelle McGahan

Fresh off of winning the Best R&B Performance Grammy for "Earned It," The Weeknd (real name: Abel Tesfaye) made the 2016 Oscars sultry AF with his performance of the signature Fifty Shades of Grey song. The Weeknd's 2016 Oscars performance of "Earned It" — the track that will make the 25-year-old crooner halfway to an EGOT if he takes home the Academy Award for Best Original Song Sunday night — flaunted his powerful vocals during the sexy slow jam, reminding us all why we spent the $14 to go see Fifty Shades in the first place (because it wasn't just for Christian Grey).

Clad in a tuxedo and surrounded by scantily clad dancers and Fifty Shades-esque acrobats — did their actions remind anyone else of Christian Grey's infamous Red Room? — The Weeknd gave "Earned It" the slow and sultry performance that the sexy track deserved, combining his smooth vocals with the BDSM-style of the film.

Like his renditions of "Can't Feel My Face" and "In The Night" at the 2016 Grammys, The Weeknd infused "Earned It" with the type of commanding performance we've grown to expect from the confident singer, one that shows off his vocal chops, raw talent, and inherent allure. Fifty Shades may not be worthy of an Oscar, but "Earned It" alone is worth a piece of that gold statuette, heightening the already sultry vibe of the film and undoubtedly giving the 2016 Oscars a little added spice.
