Tory Burch Fall 2014 Runway Was All About Knee Socks and Knits

Tory Burch, best known for those logo flats favored by Palm Beach fashionistas and NYC mavens alike, has delivered a seriously cool Fall 2014 collection. Models came down the runway like well-dressed Russian schoolgirls and left us longing to pair wool knee socks with bare legs. There were baroque-inspired prints, heavy gold details, and chunky knits paired with sensible-stylish lace up pumps. It was all about mixing downtown cool with uptown polish. Here are the best looks.

A fur trimmed purse/muff is suddenly very Brooklyn when paired with a mixed black-and-white print blouse, structured top, and mini skirt ensemble. You know, for your next Czarina-themed loft party.

This fringed leather coat is reminiscent of a trip through the car wash. Layering it over a studded dress with a little shearling duffle creates a unique silhouette.

An oversized knit with a metallic pleated mini dress is tried and true. Grandma on top, disco below! We especially love that Peter Pan collar peeking over the top of the sweater.

Everything about this outfit is perfect, from the slouchy turtleneck cut of the sweater dress to the chain detailing to the thin hem of the animal print frock poking out from below. Tory Burch does edgy right.

Think about how versatile this breezy shirt dress is! You can wear it under sweaters, over leather leggings, or by itself with knee socks and sensible shoes, as the runway styling suggests.

An embellished zip-up jacket is a major upgrade from your Juicy velour hoodie circa 2004. Extra points for cropped trousers and that horse-print blouse.

Brocade trousers and a maroon turtleneck are modern due to the slouchy fit and exposed socks. Hipster wear is taking over business wear, big time.

The pattern on this evening look might bring to mind some far-off countryside, but it cuts a modern silhouette with those little gold slippers. We can see this paired with a sharp blazer for a cozy nighttime ensemble.
