The ‘GG’ Revival May Feature A Lot Of Logan

by Emily Lackey

Let’s just be real about this: When I read in The Hollywood Reporter that the Gilmore Girls revival is reportedly going to feature a lot of Logan Huntzberger, I was pretty disappointed. Like many other fans, I fluctuate between being Team Jess and Team Dean on a daily basis. It’s not that I’m fickle; I can just see the merit in both men (the passion, the practicality), and I love projecting my personal dating debates onto fictional TV characters. (Don't you?) So when I heard that Logan actor Matt Czuchry will apparently “figure heavily into the reboot," I got the sudden and very strong urge to throw something across the room. That would be a huge blow to Jess and Dean fans the world over.

Look, I'm not trying to hate on Logan. I think he represents some really interesting things in Rory’s life, including her back-and-forth struggle between the two worlds she comes from: one of small town gumption, and the other of immense wealth. In that sense, I can see that Rory and Logan complement each other in a perfectly fine way. But when I think about Logan in that apartment in New Haven with the exposed brick and all that fancy artwork, I just see him as one big box of vanilla wafers. Would I eat a box of vanilla wafers if there were nothing else in the house? Sure. But if there were carrot cake and an entire ice cream sundae bar in the same room? I’d pass those flavorless wafers up in a heartbeat for something better.

Needless to say, I’m bummed to hear that the revival may feature a lot of Logan. Considering how little Dean and Jess will reportedly figure in it, I'm now really worried that Rory’s main storyline will be intertwined with this blonde hunk of blandness. If it is, I just hope that the ultimate outcome is that she and Logan don’t actually end up together.
