6 Celebs Who've Also Flubbed Names

John Travolta has caught a lot of flack for flubbing Idina Menzel's name while introducing her at Sunday night's Oscars. He got through his intro speech just fine but in the final seconds appeared to completely lose grasp of the English language, calling the Frozen star something that sounded like "Adele Dazeem." After Menzel's performance of "Let it Go," host Ellen DeGeneres made a quick joke of the moment by repeating Menzel's name properly twice. Meanwhile on the Internet, Travolta's mispronunciation quickly launched a thousand parody Twitter accounts and a name generator where you can get your own John Travolta-butchered moniker.

But hey, it's time to cut the guy some slack, he's certainly not the only one to ever mess up a name at an awards show. Here are six other stars who also got things a little mixed up.

1. SOFIA VERGARA

Whoever chose the Modern Family funnywoman to read the 2011 Golden Globe nominations had to have known some name flubs were bound to happen. Vergara held it together pretty well until the Best Director category when faced with Michel Hazanavicius' name which she read as "Michael Hazanaveeshesh." (Hard to blame her for that one, I certainly don't know how to pronounce his French name either.) It was all downhill from there for Vergara though, and when she got to Martin Scorsese's name she pronounced it "Marteena Scorsays." Watch the moment at around 40 seconds.

2. JENNIFER LAWRENCE

When she's not busy falling down at awards shows, J-Law is mispronouncing names. At the 2013 GLAAD Awards Lawrence introduced former president Bill Clinton but nerves got to her and she started to say "President Glib" before quickly recovering and getting his name out properly.

3. CAMERON DIAZ

At the 2009 Golden Globes, Cameron Diaz presented the nominees for Best Actress and butchered Angelina Jolie's name calling her "An-gee-gee." Watch below at around the 45 second mark.

4. ALFONSO CUARON

At the 2014 Golden Globes, Cuaron won Best Director for Gravity and when tried to thank movie executive Jeff Robinov who was a key player in getting the film made, he accidentally called him Steve Robinov. The mistake comes at 1:55.

5. WHOOPI GOLDBERG

At the National Board of Review awards in 2009, Goldberg mispronounced Josh Brolin's name which he poked fun at when he took over the podium. "Josh Brah-lin" he drawled, repeating Goldberg's flub. "That's how fucking famous I am. I just whispered in her ear, I said, 'What the fuck is the matter with you?' And she goes, 'I don't know. I'm high.'"

6. AMY POEHLER

At the 2014 Golden Globes, Poehler jokingly mispronounced Tom Hanks as "Tam Honks" after perfectly saying the tough names of Chiwetel Ejiofor and Lupita Nyong'o. Watch at minute 1:00 below.
