This Instagram Stories Feature Is Super Useful

by Jessica Learish

The internet has been overtaken by news of the newest feature in the social media universe — Instagram Stories. These swipe-able, ephemeral video and photo posts now allow Instagram users to share the more everyday moments behind the scenes of the more curated photo grid. You probably already know the basics of how to share and watch the newest posts in your feed, but there is one thing you probably don't know about Instagram Stories, and that is that you can actually pause a Story.

That's right, all you have to do to pause an Instagram Story is hold your finger down on the screen. As soon as you lift your finger... voila! The Story will resume so you don't have to miss a single moment of your friends' lives. Another nifty trick is that if you swipe down from the top of the screen when you are in the Story camera, you can access photos and videos from your camera roll from the past 24 hours. This makes it incredibly simple to create montages of a night out, a Sunday Funday, or whatever your heart desires — as long as those desires were captured in the past 24 hours. And, if you decide you want to include your Story on your actual Instagram feed, there is a way to do that, too.

Does Instagram Stories seem a little Snapchat-y? Yeah, kind of. But there are a few features that set it apart, and they're definitely worth knowing. So brush up on your Instagram Stories hacks, and get ready to post some memories.
